Review: Stateless by Meli Raine

Title: Stateless
Author: Meli Raine
Publication date: October 15, 2019
Series: Stateless
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Summary: When you’re born without a trace, no one knows you’re a weapon.

I lie for her.

I hunt for her.

I kill for her.

And above all, I betray my mission for her.

She doesn’t know why. She doesn’t care why.

I do.

Treason comes in many forms.

Love is one of them.

Our training taught me to be a sociopath. A machine. A pawn. Nothing more than a tool for a larger goal, without attachments or feelings.

Our teachers forgot one important detail:

Pawns shouldn’t have hearts.

Yet we do.

It turns out our emotions are our greatest weapon.

And I know exactly where mine are aimed.

Review: While this is listed as a romance. I wouldn't normally consider it my style. It took me a while to get into it. However I absolutely will be reading the next book in the series. It got me hooked and I think I may have to hunt down more romantic suspense books. This was kind of giving adult Maze Runner.

Review: Blade by Fiona Davenport

Title: Blade
Author: Fiona Davenport
Publication date: January 8, 2024
Series: Iron Rogues
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Summary: Toby “Blade” Barker didn’t plan to claim an old lady like his club president and VP had recently done. As the doctor for the Iron Rogues, his time was rarely his own. But his good intentions went out the window when he met Elise Ayers.

It didn’t matter that the injured beauty was too young for him. Or that she was his club brother’s little sister. All it took was one look for Blade to know that Elise was meant to be his.

Review: I absolutely adore this book series. The Fiona Davenport writing team has me in a chokehold. They are one of my automatic reads. Blade's real name is horrible but I can't be mad at it. haha. I cannot wait to read the next book!

Review: The Bet by J.L. Beck and C. Hallman

Title: The Bet
Author: J.L. Beck and C. Hallman
Publication date: May 26, 2019
Series: North Woods University
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Summary: The bet was simple.
You draw a name from the hat.
That’s the girl you have to seduce.
The girl you have to make fall head over heels in love with you.

It wasn’t hard for me to do, in fact, it was something I did all the time. I was known for breaking hearts. Sex was just that, sex. And it didn’t take me very long to get a woman on her back.

And then I drew her name: Jules Peterson.

My former best friend. My first kiss. My first love. She shattered my heart into a million pieces three years ago. She left me right when I needed her most.

And as fate who have it, she had entered my life once again, at almost the perfect time.

She was a transfer, fresh meat, and she had just put a target on her back. It was my turn to make her pay. It was my turn to break her heart.

Holding onto that hate, that anger, that f*cking heartbreak. It does something to you. It breaks you, and it broke me, it tainted me, just like I would do to Jules.

She used to be my everything, but now she was nothing but The Bet.

Review: This book had me feeling big mad. Remington absolutely pissed me off. It took me 30% of the book just pure hatred. I almost DNF'd. Then it happened. If you read this book and want to not finish because of him i beg of you just hold on. This book is worth it! Massive character growth.

Review: My Eye Adored You by Kylie Marcus

Title: My Eye Adored You
Author: Kylie Marcus
Publication date: May 10, 2023
Series: Monster Between the Sheets, Season 2
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Summary: He may only have one eye, but it adores her … he just doesn’t know it yet.

Reece Spencer became a monster after a Halloween party gone wrong, but instead of letting it ruin his life, he dedicated his life to monsters. After selling his portion of a successful investment firm, he funded the creation of a college for monsters just outside the monstrous little town of Screaming Woods.

This is his life now, trying to help monsters live as normally as possible, and nothing could disrupt that except for one new student who sets his entire world Kamila Letreuc, his former business partner’s daughter.

The last time he saw her, she was a grieving seventeen-year-old, and now she’s blossomed into a gorgeous woman. He may only have one eye, but he can tell how beautiful she is. Too bad she’s off-limits.

When Kamila's father asks him to keep his eye on her, Reece makes a promise that soon becomes personal.

Now he's got an injured Kamila staying in his house, flouncing around in his clothing, and keeping his eye and hands off her is increasingly difficult—not to mention that someone is out to kill his gorgeous little half-dryad.

Review: I definitely need more of this story or even just the world. Love a taboo couple. The book went a little too fast for me personally but it was enjoyable.

Review: Demon's Own by Rochelle Paige

Title: Demon's Own
Author: Rochelle Paige
Publication date: May 3, 2023
Series: Monster Between the Sheets, season 2
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Summary: Living in a town turned monstrous didn't leave much hope for finding love, especially when you unexpectedly wound up with horns and flames swirling in your eyes.

Koen Kelly didn’t think he’d find a ray of sunshine to ever break through his grumpiness. Then he met Soraya Hart.

The pretty author wasn’t afraid of much except for her looming deadline. She needed inspiration for her next paranormal romance, and staying in a place with real monsters seemed like the perfect way to get it. Only she never expected to find her own happily ever after with one of them.

Review: When i finished this book the very first thing i did was grab the next one not even realizing the series is all different authors. So i will definitely be looking for more monster romance from Rochelle Paige because this was fantastic!

Review: Darling Venom by Parker S. Huntington

Title: Darling Venom
Author: Parker S. Huntington
Publication date: December 11, 2021
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Summary: My first love ended in tragedy.
My second began with his brother.

From Wall Street Journal bestseller Parker S. Huntington comes a broken love story laced with angst and forbidden romance.

I wasn’t supposed to be on that roof on Valentine’s Day.

Neither was Kellan Marchetti, the school’s designated freak.

We met on the verge of ending our lives.

Somehow, the tattered strings of our tragedies tangled and tightened into an unlikely bond.

We decided not to take the plunge and agreed to check on each other every Valentine’s Day until school ended.

Same time.

One roof.

Two restless souls.

We kept our promise for three years.

On the fourth, Kellan made a decision, and I was left to deal with the consequences.

Just when I thought our story ended, another one began.

They say all love stories look the same and taste different.

Mine was venomous, disgraceful, and written in scarlet scars.

My name is Charlotte Richards, but you can call me Venom.

Review: This book shattered and rebuilt me so many times it's not even funny. I struggled a bit at th3 beginning and it's probably because it reminds me of myself in high-school. But once i got past that the book absolutely consumed me. Added perk is the GIFS added to the book.
